Woody Woodson

Ronald Eugene Woodson, “Woody”, 79 of Madison, passed away peacefully on October 21, 2023.  He was bon in Thomaston, GA on October 8, 1944 to Bobby and Clarice Daniel Woodson. He served in the U.S. Air Force before beginning his career with the Georgia Department of Natural Resources.  He served 34 years with the DNR and then worked 17 years with the Newton County Sheriff’s Office.  Mr. Woodson was married to the late Helen Hatchett Woodson.  He loved his family, especially his granddaughters.  He was a long-time fan of MCHS and UGA football. He loved his home, his land and enjoyed raising cattle.  Mr. Woodson was a member of the Masonic Lodge #376 and the Yaarab Shrine.

Mr. Woody Woodson was preceded in death by his wife, Helen and sister, Geneva.  He is survived by his daughter, Anita Highfill & JT and his granddaughters, Olivia and Emily.  He leaves two brothers, Robert Woodson & Carolyn and Danny Elrod & Sandy.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, October 24 at A.E. Carter Funeral Home from 11 AM until 1 PM.  The funeral service will begin at 1 PM in the chapel.  Interment will take place at the Hatchett Family Cemetery in Upson County.
