Weldon Crook Obituary

Weldon Reese Crook of Madison, Georgia passed away suddenly on Tuesday, May 5, 2020, at the age of 76.
Weldon was born in Houston, Texas to Grover and Retha Crook on November 7, 1943. Weldon and his family lived in Madison from 1943 to
1957 where he attended elementary school in the building that currently houses the Madison-Morgan Cultural Center. The family moved to East
Atlanta in 1957 where he attended Murphy High School in Atlanta, Georgia. While at Murphy, he met and began dating his high school sweetheart,
Donna Stelzriede Crook. Weldon was an exceptional athlete and a member of the 1960 high school state championship baseball team and
1961 state runners-up. Weldon graduated from Murphy High School in 1961 and attended Tennessee Wesleyan in Athens, Tennessee where he
was a member of the baseball team. He married Donna on August 10, 1963 in Atlanta. He worked as a building contractor and was known for the
many homes he built in Gwinnett and Morgan Counties. Weldon loved the Georgia Tech Yellowjackets, Atlanta Braves, and spent many memorable
times hunting and fishing. Most of all, he loved his family. Weldon is preceded in death by his parents, Grover and Retha Crook.
Weldon is survived by his wife: Donna Stelzriede Crook, his children: son, Joel Reese Crook, and daughter, Sonya (Chip) Meyer, his siblings: Vivien
Crook Brackett, Jean Crook Brogdon, Ronald Douglas “Butch” Crook, and Avis Crook Mallanik, and his grandchildren: Taylor Reese Crook, Olivia
Renee Cochran, Daniel Robert Cochran, and Abigail Morgan Crook. Weldon will also be missed by his many nieces, nephews, and extended
family members.


A family graveside service was held on Friday, May 8, 2020.
