John Wayne Astin, 73, of Rutledge, GA, passed away on April 2, 2025. Born on May 12, 1951, in Madison, GA, Wayne was the beloved son of Lunnie Earl and Annie Maude Astin.
A proud graduate of Morgan County High School, Wayne served as class president and later built a dedicated career as a lineman for Bell South. He had a deep love for the outdoors, enjoying both hunting and fishing, but his greatest joy in life was his grandchildren.
Wayne is survived by his loving daughter, Katie Bennett (Rob), his siblings Richard Earl Astin, George Michael “Mike” Astin (Becky), as well as his cherished grandchildren, Marlin Elizabeth Bennett and Nathan Robert Bennett. Also surviving are a niece and nephew, Betsy Watson and Dallas Astin.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during visitation at A.E. Carter Funeral Home on April 14, 2025 from 5-7 PM. A private family memorial will take place later.
Wayne will be remembered for his kindness, dedication, and love for his family. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
