Walt Bubenheim, Jr passed away on December 10, 2024, at the age of 81.
Walt was born in Moultrie, GA, and raised in Atlanta, but spent as much time as possible on his Granddaddy’s farm in Doerun, GA. He graduated from Gordon High School and went on to attend West Georgia College before transferring to The University of Georgia where he graduated in 1964.
He married Bonnie Huff in 1970 and moved to Dalton, GA where he worked in the insurance business and raised his family. In 2010 the couple retired to Greensboro, GA.
Walt loved to stay busy – fixing and improving everything that caught his eye. He loved his family and the Georgia Bulldogs with all his heart. He was proud to be a southern man and was often the life of the party with his booming voice.
Walt was preceded in death by his parents Lyda Wingate Bubenheim, and Walter Edward Bubenheim, Sr. He is survived by his wife Bonnie Huff Bubenheim, daughter Jill Bubenheim Fowler (Dan), son Jeffrey Edward Bubenheim (Tara), grandchildren Kaitlyn Fowler, Sarah Fowler, Charlie Bubenheim, and Kirby Ann Bubenheim, as well as his sister Penny Bubenheim and brother Garry Bubenheim.
The family will receive friends at Madison First United Methodist Church on Saturday, December 14 at 2:00, followed by the funeral service at 3:00. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Dyslexia Foundation are appreciated. https://dyslexiafoundation.org/donation/
