Troy Herbert O'Neal

Troy Herbert O’Neal of Mansfield passed away August 14, 2013 at Athens Regional Medical Center. He was 71 years old. He was born December 14, 1941 in Lyons in Toombs County and was the eldest of four children. Mr. O’Neal married Mary Alice Cox in 1960. Mr. O’Neal worked at Hercules in Brunswick for 30 years before retiring. He and his wife moved to Morgan County to be closer to their children and grandchildren. Mr. O’Neal helped found Royal Diadem Tabernacle, a church in Social Circle. He will be remembered as a man who loved the Lord and his family. He was preceded in death by his father, Carl O’Neal, and brother, Gary O’Neal.

Mr. O’Neal is survived by his wife, Mary Alice; mother, Freeda O’Neal; brother and sister, Doyle O’Neal and Daphene Anderson; sons, Jeff and Bryan O’Neal; daughters-in-law, Okyon and Marsha O’Neal; grandchildren, Justin O’Neal, Chantel Newton, Connor O’Neal, Katie O’Neal and Casey O’Neal.

The viewing for Mr. O’Neal will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, August 16 at A.E. Carter Funeral Home, 1670 Atlanta Highway, in Madison. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, August 17, at Royal Diadem Tabernacle, 2265 Hwy 278 North, in Social Circle, with Pastor Jeff O’Neal officiating. Interment will follow at Madison Memorial Cemetery.  

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Royal Diadem Tabernacle. Mr. O’Neal had wanted to see the church’s new sign completed, so a fund has been created in his honor.
