Michael A. Hensler (Tony), 77 of Madison, Georgia passed peacefully at home on August 4, 2024 surrounded by family and loved ones after a long battle with Cirrhosis of the liver. Tony was a lifetime resident of Morgan County and worked many jobs within the community, most notably he was known for delivering the Atlanta Journal paper for 20 plus years. Tony also served in the military, (USMC) and fought proudly for this country during the Vietnam War. Tony was a member of the local VFW chapter in Morgan County for many years. Tony also served many years as a deacon at Rutledge Baptist Church where he was a member. Tony’s family says that he never met a stranger, would always make you smile and laugh with a witty joke, and was loved so much by members of his community. He will be sorely missed!
Tony is preceded in death by his wife Linda (Louise) Hensler of Madison, his daughter Angela (Leigh) Jackson of Madison, by his parents, Carrie Ellen Jenkins & Charles Henry (Brud) Hensler Sr. of Madison, brothers, Charles Henry Jr. and Sidney of Madison, sister, Mary Ellen of Eatonton, Georgia. Tony is survived by his daughter, Michelle Stephens (Wesley) of Madison, his sister, Betty Hensler of Madison, his grandchildren, Trey Greenway (Ashley) of Madison, Hailey Selvidge (Chris) of Newton County, Kaitlyn Arnold (Cody) of Madison, Leslie Stephens of Madison, Melinda Hacker (John) of Madison, and Jessica Stephens of Madison. Great-grandchildren Xavier, McKaylan, Alexia, Aniyah, Elly, Carsyn, Wesley, Wyatt, Lizzy, and Ansleigh, all of Madison, Georgia. Great-great-grandchild, Parker Lane Williams. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and many more family, who he loved dearly.
Tony will be missed by so many. The family will accept visitors on Wednesday, August 7, 2024 from 6:00-8:00 pm at A.E. Carter Funeral Home in Madison. Funeral will be held Thursday, August 8, 2024 at Rutledge Baptist Church (112 W. Main Street, Rutledge, GA 30653) at 11:00 am. A private interment will take place at a later date for immediate family.
