Timmy Dwayne Watkins was born February 9, 1961, to Homer Wells (Buck) and Christine Veal Watkins. He was educated in Morgan County schools and graduated with the Class of 1979. Even before graduation, he worked as a heavy equipment operator with his father’s construction business. After the untimely death of his father, he began to work in home construction and repair, and continued in that field until his health declined. He was a member of the Madison Christian Church.
Tim set his mind to fly an airplane, took lessons, and accomplished this feat, soloing in 1983. He was an accomplished guitar and banjo picker. He made some custom cabinets that family members continue to enjoy. When computers emerged in our lives, Tim became an avid computer geek and was everyone’s go-to person for computer questions and repairs.
In recent years his health limited many of his activities, but he took these challenges in stride and lived contented with his disabilities. He passed away at Coliseum Hospital in Macon on October 2, 2020, after a brief illness.
He is survived by sisters, Patricia Ann Hawkins (Larry) of Blairsville, Nancy Clark and special friend Jim Whitton, and brother Ricky Watkins (Benita) of Madison. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews who will miss him. He is also missed by his devoted four-legged friend of 15 years, Snuffy.
Graveside services will be held on Sunday, October 4, 2020, at 3:00 pm. at Faith Memorial Gardens. Reverend Alan Cagle will officiate. Those wishing to remember Tim can make a donation to the Madison Christian Church or to the Morgan County Humane Society.
