Robert Timothy Stone
October 16, 1944 ~ October 12, 2020 (age 75)
R. Timothy “Tim” Stone died peacefully at home on Monday, October 12th, 2020 in Buckhead, Georgia at the age of 75 after an extended illness.
Tim was born in 1944 in Washington, DC to Col. John Nicholas Stone and Mary Virginia (Baisch) Stone. He graduated magna cum laude from Boston College in 1965 with a Bachelor’s degree in Physics, then earned a Master’s degree (MS-EE) from Johns Hopkins University in 1967. He married Lenore Skatoff, his college sweetheart, in 1965. Prior to raising a family with Lee in Montville, New Jersey, Tim began his career at Bell Laboratories before becoming Co-founder and SVP of Communication Sciences, Inc. in Edison, New Jersey. Moving to their retirement home in Georgia’s beautiful lake country, in 2006, he enjoyed boating, reading, and gardening. And, after more than 25 years as a New York Giants season ticket holder, he happily converted to being a rabid UGA Dawgs fan.
Tim is survived by his wife Lenore Teresa “Lee” Stone, his three children: David Stone of Boulder, Colorado, Matthew Stone of Short Hills, New Jersey, and Jessica Stone of Los Angeles, California, four beloved grandchildren, his brothers John N. Stone II of The Villages, Florida and Adm. Thomas E. Stone (Ret.) of Henderson, Nevada, and numerous nephews and nieces. He is preceded in death by his mother “Nina,” and father “Jack,” and his sister, Jane Stone Novak.
Services were handled by A.E. Carter Funeral Home on October 16th in Madison, Georgia.
