Thurlow "Buddy" Evans

Buddy Evans, 75, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Oct. 31,2021. He was born on Oct. 26, 1946 to Thurlow Evans and Sylvia Edwards Evans in Avondale Estates, Georgia.

Buddy graduated from Avondale High School in 1964, but was a Blue Devil to the core!  In 1976 the Avondale Touchdown Club honored him for his endless support and dedication.

Buddy attended Dekalb College for 2 years before starting his career at Steel Inc. in 1967 and soon became the purchasing agent.  He had a 40 year career and was admired and respected by everyone in the industry! At his retirement party he was acknowledged as the heart and soul of Steel Inc. He never let his affliction change who he was, a generous, loving husband, father, brother, Poppy and Friend!

He was very loved and the best human being to walk this earth!!

He was preceded in death by his parents, Thurlow and Sylvia Evans, sister Adrienne Bettress and Brother in-law Freddie Bettress and brother in-law Jack Burel.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 40 years, Virginia Fern “Ginny” Evans. His sisters, Janis Burel and Judy Evans. His children, Josh Evans, Tracy Campbell, Chris Sims, Amber Behnken and Rosalynn Thompson (Dennis).  He was blessed with 12 grandchildren that brought him much joy. Ansley, Brett and Chase Evans, Kahler Vandiver (Cory) Haley, Kinsley and Dylan Campbell, Ashley and Brooke Thompson, Ginny Robertson (Daniel), Amanda Nix (Patrick), Christopher Sims and 5 great grandchildren, Jeremy Behnken, Caden Nix, Elizabeth Sims, Addison and Kendall Vandiver. 

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
