Sybil (Davis) Nunn

Sybil Virginia Davis Nunn, age 88, passed away on Saturday, May 31, 2025,

She was preceded in death by her parents Paul Malachi Davis and Elizabeth Elder Davis, brothers Harold Davis and Malachi (Mac) Davis, and sister Carol Ruark.  She is survived by her husband of 68 years Earl Patterson Nunn, sisters Becky Primeaux, Sarita Little, Joyce Lingerfelt (Rick), and Jeanne Peterson (Larry), her boys Sammy Nunn, Steve Nunn, Keith Nunn, and David Nunn (Deanna); grandchildren  Lee Nunn (Sally), Ashley Erb (Alvin), Nicholas Nunn (Alayna), Ben Nunn, Stephen Nunn, Chris Nunn (Nikki), Peyton Murray (Taylor); great grandchildren Claire Nunn, Mason Nunn, Amara Erb, Asher Erb, Carolyn Nunn, and Oliver Nunn; numerous nieces and nephews.

Sybil was born in Good Hope, Walton County, Georgia, on November 25, 1936. A graduate of Monroe High School, she was employed by the Morgan County School System and the Bank of Madison.  A faithful member of Gibbs Memorial Baptist Church she was active in the Adult Women’s Sunday School Class/The Seasoned Saints.  She was a poll worker for Morgan County elections at the Bostwick precinct and an avid bridge player where she enjoyed regular weekly games with her lifelong friends.

In 1957 Sybil married Earl and they settled on the family farm in Bostwick.  She was a dedicated farmer’s wife and mother to her four boys.  Only after the youngest child was of school age did she seek employment outside of the home by going to work at Morgan County Middle School.  She then worked for many years at the Bank of Madison as a teller.

Visitation will be Saturday, June 7, at Gibbs Memorial Baptist Church at 10:00 am, in the Family Life Center.  A graveside service will follow at 11:00 am at Bostwick Memorial Cemetery.  If you would like to honor Sybil you may donate to Gibbs Memorial Baptist Church, Bostwick, Georgia.
