Sonny Wood Obituary

 

Sonny Wood, 55 of Rutledge, died September 8, 2021.  Sonny was born September 27, 1965 to Herbert A. Wood, I and Margie Potter Wood.  Sonny graduated from Morgan County High School in 1983.  He was married to Mary Rice.  Sonny was employed at Contract Packaging in Covington.  Previously, he had owned and operated Woods Service Station in Madison.  He and his family also operated Ridge Creek Farm, offering families fresh eggs, chicken, pork and beef. Sonny served as a magistrate judge for Morgan County for over 25 years.  He was a committed Christian, Husband, Father and Grandfather.  He loved his family and spending time outdoors and camping. 

Sonny Wood is survived by his wife, Mary and their four children, Sarah Folsom (James), Rebekah Wood, Rachel Wood and Zach Wood.  He also leaves two grandchildren, Daniel and Riley Folsom as well as his mother, Margie Ward and a sister, Julie Phillips (Billy).  Sonny was preceded in death by his father as well as a brother, Sandy Wood.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, September 11 from 6-8 PM at A.E. Carter Funeral Home.  The funeral service will be held in the chapel on Sunday, September 12 at 2 PM.  Interment will follow at the Madison City Cemetery.
