Roy Alan Thrasher, Sr.

Roy Alan Thrasher Sr. gained his heavenly wings on Friday, January 31st, 2025 surrounded by his family. Roy was born September 17th, 1944 in Apalachee, Georgia. In his early years, he was a highly decorated Army Sgt. and paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne Division based out of Fort Bragg, North Carolina. After his 6 years of service, you could find him doing heating and air, plumbing, coaching at the rec department, rabbit hunting, walking through his chicken houses, riding on his tractor, hanging out with the Boy Scouts, and enjoying time with his family. Roy was preceded in death by his parents, Francis (Frank) Thrasher Sr. and Clyde Thrasher, his siblings: Francis Thrasher Jr., George Thrasher, Raymond Thrasher, Mildred Epps, Kaye Ervin, Helen Long and Evelyn Thrasher. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 50 years, Beverly Cheryl Thrasher, his only living sibling, Roger Thrasher, his children: Cindy Smith (Luke) of Madison, Roy Thrasher Jr. (Ginger) of Madison, Russell Thrasher (Kristy) of Madison and Ronald Thrasher of Madison. He leaves behind a wonderful legacy of 12 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, and a set of twin great-grandsons, due next month. His memory remains with his many nieces and nephews. Roy was an all-around great friend and exceptional man who never fell through on a promise.
