Roy Morris Obituary

On the afternoon of October 7, 2020, Roy Franklin Morris Sr, of Madison, Georgia, passed away peacefully at his home after a long struggle with heart disease. He was born on October 5, 1935 to Betty Ethel Rice and Oliver Harris Morris of Morgan County. He is preceded in death by his mother and father, his brother Richard Harris Morris, and his wife, Shirley N. Morris. He is survived by his sister Brenda Morris and brother-in-law, Bobby Morris. He is survived by one son, Roy Morris Jr., five grandchildren, Luke McCarron Morris, Skyla Drew Morris, Elsie Brynn Morris, Paulina Isabelle Morris, Jack Rhys Morris, and their mother, Bonnie Betancourt Morris.

Mr. Morris was raised in Madison, and graduated from Morgan County High School. He was the son of a mechanic who eventually founded Morris Wreckers and O.H. Morris GMC Truck dealership. He learned to work on vehicles of every type, and developed a special talent for auto body repair and painting. He proudly served in the U.S. Army reserve in his youth. He established Roy’s Body Shop, and worked endless hours to sustain a successful business for the purpose of providing a good home for his son and his beloved wife Shirley, whom he met at Morgan County High School, and married as soon as she graduated. They were together 63 years before her passing in 2018.

He was a member of the Madison Baptist Church. He valued his friends and the

members of his sunday school class who have been supportive over the years. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, water skiing, and long rides through the countryside. On Wednesday, his journey was complete. He was reunited with his loved ones, and our Lord Jesus Christ.
