Ronald Derwin Thurmond

Ronald Derwin Thurmond, 80 died April 28, 2022, surrounded by his family.  Mr. Thurmond was born in Green County on November 16, 1941 to Gillard and Estelle Pullian Thurmond.  He was married to the late Martha Sue Hunnicutt.  He was a long-time member of the Apalachee Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and sang in the choir.  Mr. Thurmond was a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps.  He worked as a fence builder and fenced many farms in the area.  He enjoyed horses and time spent with friends.  Mr. Thurmond was a devoted family man, a patriot and Christian.

Ronald Thurmond is survived by his children, Ron Thurmand & Anne Marie and Holly Thurmond.  His grandchildren are Cody Thurmond, Victoria Garrett, Luke Thurmond, and Hannah Thurmond.  He leaves three great grandchildren, Kennedy, Skyler and Aubrey.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, May 1, 2022 at Apalachee Baptist Church at 2PM.  The funeral service will be held at 3PM.  Interment will follow at the Madison City Cemetery.
