Marion Patricia Holbert Brown (Pattie) was born in Madison, Georgia on July 5, 1941, to Issac Woodrow and Mary Alice Young Holbert. She lived her entire life in Morgan County and made an impact on many in the area. Pattie married Nolan Brown on November 6, 1959 and was a Godly mother to three children that she loved dearly. She was a strong woman of faith, a prayer warrior, and a rock for her entire family. To her daddy, she was “Dollbaby.” To her grandchildren, she was “Nana.” To her great-nephew, Miles, she was “Peppermint Pattie.” Regardless of whether she was Pat, Pattie, Mama, Aunt Pattie, or the others, she was special to all who knew her. Just being around her brought happiness.. She loved big and wasn’t afraid to speak her mind when the occasion arose. She was often seen and heard sharing her faith with anyone who would listen. Pattie loved her church, Cornerstone Christian Center, and loved her church family. Generosity and honesty were two of her character traits that she credited to her parents. She was a lover of numbers and spent many years in the accounting field before retiring to spend time with her children, grandchildren, and extended family. Pattie was business-minded and was adept at budgeting for her family. Her brother said she could “squeeze a dollar until it would holler”, but because of that ability, she and her husband provided well for their family. In her latter years, she did love to splurge a little “shopping online.” Pattie’s life wasn’t always roses, but she always relied on her strong faith to get her through. In 1978, when she lost her son, Tracy, in an unfortunate accident, she stood strong and even was an inspiration to those around her. Pattie is survived by one son, Ken Brown (Amy) of Eatonton; six grandchildren, Leslie Watkins (Matt), Traci Johns(Stewart), Lydia Givens (Zach) , Adam Bishop (Stephanie ), Dalton Brown, and Garrett Brown, and twelve great-grandchildren. Her brothers are Charlie Holbert(Patsy), David Holbert (Marcia), and Leonard Holbert (Sara Lynn). She also leaves one sister, Barbara Sidwell. Numerous extended family members are left to mourn the loss. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her son Tracy, and her daughter, Alesia Brown Bishop, who passed away three days before her. Also, her sisters, Mazelle Phelps and Nellie Ruth Screws, and one brother, William, preceded her in death. Pattie was a woman of God whose greatest desire was for all her loved ones to know the Lord. She will be missed but has truly left a light that will guide those she loved and called her own. A joint Memorial Service will be held with her daughter, Alesia. The service will be July 30, at 10:00 a.m. at the Wesley Building of the First United Methodist Church in Madison. Donations may be made to Cornerstone Christian Center, St. Jude Hospital, or the FUMC Preschool in memory/honor of Alesia Brown Bishop and Patricia Holbert Brown.
