Mary Page Bryans, 90, of Newborn, GA passed away on October 8, 2021. She was born August 3, 1931 to Walter Page & Mary Leila McAdams in Brownwood Community in Morgan County.
She graduated from Rutledge High School in 1947, and attended Berry College with plans to study hematology. These plans were interrupted when her mother became seriously ill, and Page left school to take care of her. In 1951 she was married to Edward Bryans, and moved with him to his home on Broughton Road, where he worked as a dairyman. They had 4 children: Melanie Gail Bryans Welch, Warren Grady Bryans, John Edward Bryans, Jr., and Mary Page Bryans. She attended Shiloh Baptist Church.
Page was active in local community activities, and besides raising 4 children, spent much of her time feeding dairy calves, and helping with the family’s dairy. Page was also the local beautician, running her self-started business from “The Beauty Shop” that she had built in front of her home. (Page herself was known for her beautiful silver hair.) She loved her family, her home, and the dairy, and she enjoyed cooking delicious recipes, and also growing gorgeous flowers.
Page is survived by a daughter and two sons: Melanie Gail Welch (Jack), Warren Grady Bryans (Vickie), and John Edward Bryans, Jr.. She is also survived by her brother John McAdams, and sisters Anita Johnston & Carolyn Johnston. She was preceded by her husband, John Edward Bryans, a daughter, Mary Page Bryans, her sister Ginger Larman & daughter-in-law Donna Bryans preceded her in death.
Page was blessed with many grandchildren! Jessica Cason (Clay), Wesley Whitlock, (Jennifer), Brian Shepherd Bryans (Amie), Ashley Saye Hammonds, Merideth Bryans, Melody Bryans Morgan (Justin), Robert Duckett, Mary Oakley, Laura Oakley (Steven), John Bryans (Delaney). Great-Grandchildren include Lucas Cason, Davis Cason, Emma Grace Bryans, Beau Bryans, Tucker Bryans, Macy Morgan, Mack Morgan, Mason Eastman, Grayson Oakley, Donna Grace Oakley, Shawn Oakley, Bailey Oakley, Reese Oakley, Ansley Bryans, Mason Armour, Maddie Armour, JD Armour, & Charlotte Whitlock.
Visitation will be held on Monday evening, October 11 from 6-8 p.m at A.E.Carter Funeral Home in Madison, GA. Funeral services will be held at Shiloh Baptist on October 12 at 11:00 a.m., with a graveside service to follow. Pastor Danny Sorrels will officiate, with Tony Compton as soloist. Pianists will include Kenny Boswell. Flowers will be accepted, or donations to the charity of your choice in her remembrance.
