Olivia Scholly Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Olivia (Livy) Nicole Scholly on August 4, 2025. Livy was born in Athens, Georgia on July 23, 1985. She was the daughter of Bill Scholly and Mattie Saffold of Buckhead, Georgia. She was preceded in death by her grandparents William C. Scholly and Helen Cunningham Scholly of Augusta and Tom Reid Saffold and Helen Burch Saffold of Buckhead. In addition to her parents, she is survived by a sister Claire Creed, niece Pippa Creed, and nephews Liam and Oliver Creed, of Goodview, Virginia.

At the age of 16 months, Livy was diagnosed with a potentially fatal brain tumor. Following surgery, she endured rigorous chemotherapy treatments and frequent hospital stays. At the age of 8, she received daily radiation treatments for five weeks. As a young adult, she returned to Duke Medical Center for a second brain surgery, with chemotherapy and radiation which caused severe, and ultimately, total hearing loss.

Despite these setbacks, Livy had an active childhood in Buckhead. She rode horses, participated in 4-H, and loved all animals. She attended Gatewood School and graduated from Morgan County High School. It was during high school that she began her baking career, working part-time at local bakery Kumquat Mae.

Livy graduated from Georgia College and State University with degrees in History and English. During her college years, she spent a summer in Europe where she honed her photography skills. Following her time at Georgia College, she received her Master's in Library Science from Florida State University.

Livy turned her love of animals into a pet-sitting business which was utilized by many local pet owners.

More recently, Livy enjoyed her association with The Farmhouse Inn at Hundred Acre Farm, which began by baking specialty items and grew into planting flower and vegetable garden beds.

Livy had a gentle, creative soul which was manifested in her beautiful photographs, delicious cooking, and creative garden design. She will be missed.

A memorial service will be held at a future date.
