Nell (Smith) Onica

Nell Smith Onica, formerly of Madison, died on November 22, 2010.  She was the daughter of Benjamin F. Smith and Maudie Austin Smith.  She was born on October 1, 1921 in Randolph County, AL.  Mrs. Onica was married to the late James McConnell and the late James Onica.  She worked as a weaver in the textile industry and later for Ford Motor Company.  She was a member of First Baptist Church of Lithia Springs.  While in Madison, she was a member of Conerstone Worship Center.

Mrs. Onica is survived by her son, Bobby McConnell (Mary) and a step daughter, Michelle Hight.  She is also survived by three sisters, three grandchildren and and four great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by husbands, James McConnell and Jim Onica and a daughter, Laura McConnell.

The family will receive friends on Friday, November 26, 2010 from 10:00 am until Noon at A.E. Carter Funeral Home.  The funeral service will be held at 1:30 at Conterstone Worship Center.  Interment will follow at Madison Memorial Park.
