Nancy (Martin) West

Nancy Martin West, 93 of Madison, passed away on April 14, 2023.  She was a native of Morgan County.  She was born June 5, 1929 to Paul and Nannie Bell Morris Martin.  She was a graduate of Madison High School.  She then attended Piedmont University on a basketball scholarship and was inducted to the Piedmont Basketball Hall of Fame in 1983.  There she gained a BS in education.  She then went on to earn a Masters Degree in education from the University of Georgia.  Mrs. West taught English in Social Circle and Morgan County Schools for 35 years.  While teaching, Mrs. West was the cheerleading coach and led the Annual staff for many years.  Mrs. West was married to the late Ted West.  She was a member of Fountain of Praise. She loved to sing and led music for her church for years.  Mrs. West loved her family and spending time with her grandchildren.

Nancy West was preceded in death by her husband, Ted.  She is survived by her daughter, Teddi Sue Wilson and John.  She also leaves two grandsons, James West Wilson & Bridgit and Jock Wilson & Emily.  Her great grandchildren are Ella, Kate, Luke, Logan and is expecting another.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, April 18 from 2:00 -3:30PM at A.E. Carter Funeral Home.  The funeral service will be held at 4:00 PM in the chapel.  Interment will follow at the Madison City Cemetery.
