Evelyn Riden Sheffield was born in Morgan County, Georgia on November 25, 1929. She was raised on Riden Road in Bostwick along with her only brother. Her parents were Jessie and Worde Riden. She began dating her future husband, Frank Sheffield, in high school and they were married for 71 years. After high school, she attended North Georgia College in Dahlonega. She and Frank married on December 26, 1948 and raised three daughters in Athens, Georgia. Frank worked in the banking industry until he retired. Then they moved back to the family farm in Bostwick. While in Athens, they became charter members of St. James United Methodist Church where they made lifelong friends.
Evelyn’s greatest joy was her family. Here grandchildren and great-grandchildren lovingly called her “Mimi” and loved playing with the toys at Mimi’s house. Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Sheffield, her parents, Jessie and Worde Riden and her brother, Worde Riden, Jr. She was a member of the Henry Walton Chapter of the DAR since 1974. Genealogy was always a great interest of hers.
Survivors include her three daughters, Jessica Jordan (Kent) of Moultrie, Cindy Crane (Jon) of Madison and Donna Daily (Steve) of Madison. Her grandchildren are Brian Jordan (Clairbourne), Anna Jordan, Chip Crane (Melissa), Christina Karsted (Nathan), Brad Daily (Rachel) and Kathleen Goodwin (Zack), step-grandsons are Kent Jordan, Jr (Diedre), Mike Jordan (Crystal) and eight great grandchildren; Evelyn, Barrett & Adaline Jordan, Lucy and Eric Karstedt, Emma and Jack Daily and Kellett Goodwin. Also, special to her were her caregivers, Kathy Walker and Mariah Walker.
