Michael “Mike” David Evans of Social Circle/Madison, GA passed peacefully into heaven on July 10th, 2024, just one day past his 69th birthday. Mike was born on July 9th, 1955 in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
A graduate of the 1973 Class at Towers High School, Mike grew up in Dekalb county and was a member of the Varsity Swim Team & Wrestling Team. Racing cars became a life long passion from an early age. After grade school he attended Dekalb College and Gwinnett Tech to pursue a career in machine technology. Mike was an incredibly talented engine builder and machine welder. He spent most of his free time fixing cars and machinery equipment. He worked in car restoration, muscle car part sales, silo building, stadium seating installation, and farming. Mike could fix anything and was always helping friends and family.
Mike was most happy outdoors. He enjoyed hunting deer, hiking, fishing, taking photos of wildlife, traveling (particularly hunting trips) and atv riding. Mike was a certified scuba diver, won several marksmanship awards for shooting skeet and climbed significant portions of the Appalachian Trail.
Most importantly, Mike had a great faith in Jesus. Some of his best memories in life were from his mission trips to the country of Haiti. He loved using his talents for the Lord and was always quick to reassure his family that God was in control.
Mike is preceded in death by his Mother (Mildred Evans) and Father (Jack Evans). He is survived by his daughter Ramona King and son in law Travis King of Jefferson, GA. He leaves behind his four grandchildren, Amie, Ezra, Ellen and Maggie. Mike is also survived by his sister Barbara Money & brother in law Randy Money of Lawrenceville, GA (Nieces Kristen (husband Grayson) Carroll of Memphis, TN & Caroline Money of Atlanta, GA), brother Brad Evans of Loganville, GA (Nephews Miller Evans & Joel Evans). Mike was an incredible friend to many and was known for his regular phones calls to check on all of his friends each week.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, July 16, from 2-3 PM at A.E. Carter Funeral Home. The funeral will be held at 3 PM in the chapel. Interment will follow at the Sandy Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
