It is with deep sorrow that the family of Mary Garwood Reeves announces her passing on January 26, 2025, at the age of 82.
Mary was born on December 31, 1942, in Columbus, Ohio, to Samuel and Nina Garwood. She married Michael Reeves and together they raised a loving family.
Mary dedicated much of her life to education. She earned her doctorate and enjoyed a fulfilling career as a teacher and adjunct professor at institutions such as Lakeside High School, Crestwood High School, Chattahoochee High School, Oglethorpe University, and Georgia Perimeter College. Her passion for learning and teaching touched countless students over the years.
A devoted member of Madison Presbyterian Church, Mary was also involved in her community in many ways, giving her time and energy to those around her.
Mary is survived by her beloved children, Michael Reeves, Jr. (Margaret Ramsay) and Ed Reeves; her cherished grandchild, Thomas Reeves; and her brothers, Sam (Lillian) Garwood and the late George Garwood. She will be remembered fondly by extended family, friends, and colleagues whose lives she influenced with grace and wisdom.
A graveside memorial service will be held at Madison City Cemetery on February 6, 2025 at 11:00 AM.
Mary’s kindness, intellect, and generosity will be missed by all who knew her.
