Martha Nicholas Price, 79, of Madison, Georgia, entered her heavenly home on August 22, 2025, surrounded by family.
She was born on February 14, 1946, in Henderson, Texas, to the late Herman and Sadie Nicholas. Martha is survived by her devoted husband of 60 years, Eddie W. Price; her children, Jason E. Price (Donna), Justin R. Price (Kimberly), and Joy N. Vivian (Shane); her sisters, Carlotta Martin and Linda Chevalier of Troup, Texas; and nine beloved grandchildren who were the joy of her life. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Martha’s early years in Price, TX were filled with energy, leadership, and accomplishment. In Carlisle high school, she served as drum major, twirler, and was honored by her faculty as the Outstanding Student of her graduating class—a reflection of her character and determination even at a young age.
After raising her children, Martha earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Education from the University of Georgia. She taught for several years before serving as Registrar at Eastside High School in Covington, where she was admired for her dedication and care for students and staff.
Martha’s greatest calling, however, was her faith. She was a steadfast servant in every church she attended, directing Women’s Missionary Union programs, teaching Bible study, and giving generously of her time and talents. In Madison, she was a faithful member of Madison Baptist Church, where she served as assistant clerk and was active in the Esther Bible Study group.
She also found joy in cultivating life around her—her back deck was known for its vibrant potted plants and flourishing holiday cacti, admired by all who visited. Beyond her home, Martha had a deep love of travel. She visited 49 U.S. states and all continents except Antarctica, exploring the world with her husband, children, and grandchildren. Even during her two-and-a-half-year battle with ovarian cancer, she continued her adventures, completing cruises around Japan, the British Isles, and the Eastern Mediterranean with her immediate family.
Martha’s life was marked by faith, family, and curiosity about the world. She always expressed humor and wit, lifting the spirits of those around her. She will be remembered for her devotion to God, her love of learning, her nurturing spirit, and the joy she brought to those who knew her.
A celebration of Martha’s life will be held at A.E. Carter Funeral Home, Madison, GA on Wednesday August 27, 2025 with visitation starting at 9:00 AM and the service at 10:30 AM. Interment will be at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, GA at 2:30 PM In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Lottie Moon Offering at Madison Baptist Church.
