Mrs. Linda Alford Ashby, 72 of Madison, passed away May 2, 2020. She was born to the late Emmett and Susie Harwood Alford on June 23, 1947 in Buckhead. She was a 1966 graduate of Morgan County High School and a graduate of Athens Business School. She started her career at Pennington Seed in Madison and had numerous professions throughout her busy life. In her final years, her favorite job was a greeter at Wal-Mart, and she brightened many people’s days with her hugs and kind words. She was a devout member of Sewell Methodist Church and a strong woman of God. Linda found beauty in the Lord’s creation and always found the best in others. Linda was the BEST wife, mom, nana, sister and friend anyone could have. She genuinely loved people and never met a stranger.
Linda is survived by her husband of 25 years, Jim, as well as her children, Jolyn Davis (husband Bill) and son Justice Branyan (fiancé, Samorica Madden). She also leaves grandchildren, Celie Clark (husband Alex), Mason Davis, and Alyssa Smoak. Her surviving siblings are Violet Harris, Howard Alford (wife Twala), and Harold Alford (wife Pat) and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Susanne Leigh Branyan and a sister, Carolyn Alford.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the family will hold a celebration of Linda’s life at a later date in June.
A.E. Carter Funeral Home had care of arrangements.
