Judith (Austin) Schafer

Mrs. Judith Schafer, 79 of Madison, died March 3, 2020.  She was born October 11, 1940 in Montgomery County, IL to Ralph and Ruth Walker Austin.  She was married to Robert Schafer.  They moved to Madison fourteen years ago from Florida.  Since living in Madison, Mrs. Schafer became active at the Madison-Morgan Cultural Center and St. James Catholic Church.  She enjoyed gardening and organizing neighborhood gatherings at Madison Lakes.  She was devoted to her family and adored her grandhildren.

Mrs. Schafer is survived by her husband, Robert Schafer and children, Eilen Hoover, Karen Sympson & Jeff and Steve Schafer & Kathleen.  Her grandchildren are Sierrah Hoover, Mitchell Hoover, Kirsten Sympson, Austin Sympson, Matthew Schafer, Andrew Schafer and Michael Schafer.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 7 from 10-11 AM at A.E. Carter Funeral Home.  A eulogy will be given at 11 AM in the chapel.  A memorial mass will be held at Noon at St. James Catholic Church.
