Joey Knight

Charles (Joey) Knight, 63, of Rutledge, Georgia passed away peacefully on July 29th, 2024 after a long battle with a rare form of bone cancer. He was born on January 11, 1961 in Madison, Georgia to Patricia and Charles Knight. Growing up he attended Morgan County Schools and resided in Fairplay. 

Joey was happiest at the beach and loved spending time with his family at the beach any chance he got. In particular, he loved visiting Daytona Beach, and going to the Nascar race every summer. He also loved the outdoors and animals, and spent over 30 years working for Mr. Dan Rather at Wayside Farms. He also loved hunting, fishing, and Georgia football. 

Joey will always be remembered for his kindness, his heart, and his humor. Joey was a big man, but somehow his heart was even bigger. Even through the past few years of fighting a rare type of cancer, Joey never missed a chance to smile or crack a joke. He was the best story teller, and loved reminiscing on trips with his family, or stories with his friends. 

Joey is preceded in death by his father, Charles Knight. He is survived by his mother, Patricia Knight, brother, Keith Knight (Becky) and sister, Andrea Eidson. He is also survived by his nephews Keith Knight (Ashley), Josh Knight, and Drew Eidson, and niece Meredith Eidson, whom he adored. And also, great nephews, Wilkes and Tucker Knight, and great niece Ella Claire Knight and Lena Williams.  

The family of Joey Knight will receive friends on Thursday, August 1, 2024 from 6-8pm at A.E. Carter Funeral Home.  The funeral service will be held at 11am on Friday, August 2 in the chapel.  Interment will follow at the Prospect Methodist Church Cemetery.
