Jerry Olin Stapp, 71 of Madison, died March 22, 2021 at his home. He was surrounded by his family. Jerry was a native of Morgan County, born on December 19, 1949 to Chester and Latrelle Watkins Stapp. He was a graduate of Morgan County High School. After high school, Jerry served in the Army National Guard. Jerry was married to Carol McClain and raised two children, Russell and Erin. He was employed by Georgia Rural Water Association as an instructor and loved his work and co-workers. Jerry lived his life to the fullest. He had many hobbies and interests. He enjoyed restoring and caring for his classic cars. He loved to travel, whether by motorcycle, car or motor home. He was an active member of Madison Baptist Church, having taught the Tom Riden Sunday School Class for many years. Jerry loved music and in recent years played bluegrass music with a group of friends. He loved his home and the family lake house on Lake Rabun. Most of all, he cherished his family and the time he spent with them.
Jerry Stapp is survived by his wife, Carol and their children, Russell Stapp & Jennifer and Erin Peters & Jeffrey. His grandchildren are Hallie Stapp, Lily Eubanks, Owen Peters, Hannah Stapp and Mary Morgan Peters. He also leaves two brothers, Ronnie Stapp & Cindy and Jimmy Stapp & Pam. Jerry also leaves many other extended family members and friends. Jerry Stapp was preceded in death by his parents as well as a sister, Sheryl Denise Stapp.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 24, 2021 from 11 AM until 1 PM at A.E. Carter Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow at the Madison City Cemetery.
