James Daniel Slaughter of Madison, passed away on December 12, 2024 at the age of 77. He was surrounded by his loving family. Dan’s life was a beautiful testament of love, strength and devotion. He leaves a legacy that will forever be cherished by his family and friends. Dan was born in Madison on January 16, 1947 to Harold Frank Slaughter, Sr. and Estelle Brown Slaughter. He served in the U.S. Navy and later worked as an HVAC technician, owning his own business. He also specialized in home security and alarm systems. Dan was a member of Centennial Baptist Church. He loved to garden and restore tractors and his hobby car. Dan was a devoted Christian, American and family man.
Dan Slaughter is survived by his wife, Kittye and their five children: Donnell (Tony) Wright, Sandy (Robert) Sheppard, Rebecca Heck, Lt. Colonel John L. Craven (Jessica) and Daniel Slaughter (Breanna). Dan’s family was his greatest joy and his love extended to his twelve grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and to his brothers and their families.
The family of Dan Slaughter will receive friends on Monday, December 16, 2024 at A.E. Carter Funeral Home from 11:00AM until 1:00PM. The funeral service will take place at Centennial Baptist Church at 2:00PM. Interment will follow at Faith Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
