James Hawkins Obituary

Sgt. Lamar Hawkins, 87 of Madison died January 2, 2019.  Mr. Hawkins was born October 16, 1931 in Morgan County to Walter and Leona Peters Hawkins.  He graduated from Morgan County High School and later married his classmate, Mary Ann Blackstock.  He served in the United States Marine Corps before pursuing a career in law enforcement.  He retired from the Georgia State Patrol as the local Post Commander in 1986.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking and gardening.  Mr. Hawkins is survived by his children, Brenda Youngblood and Johnny and Greg Hawkins and Deborah;  grandchildren, Jamie Campbell, Davin Youngblood and Meg Hawkins; great-grandchildren, Jameson, Cole and Adi Grace Campbell, Hawk Youngblood, a brother, Mr. Hubert Hawkins and Shelby.  Mr. Hawkins also leaves nieces and nephews and close friends.  The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 3, 2019 from 6-8PM at A.E. Carter Funeral Home.  The funeral service will be held at 2PM on January 4 in the chapel of A.E. Carter Funeral Home.  Interment will follow at the Madison City Cemetery.
