Reverend James H. Elliott, 82, of Madison, passed away on February 24, 2026.
A native of Banks County, Rev. Elliott was born on April 30, 1943, to the late Guy James Elliott and Adell Rose Parr Elliott. He faithfully served in the ministry for over 45 years, dedicating his life to preaching the Gospel, shepherding congregations, and ministering to countless families throughout his community. His unwavering faith, compassionate heart, and steady leadership left a lasting impact on all who knew him.
Rev. Elliott was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was married to the love of his life, Gloria Waldroup Elliott, and together they built a life centered on faith, family, and service. He is survived by his loving wife, Gloria; his children, Connie and Steve Wells, Randy and Tammy Elliott Sr., Rachel and Mark Henson, Rebekah and Michael Ridgeway; 14 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren, all of whom were a source of great pride and joy.
The family will receive friends on Friday, February 27, from 11:00 AM until 12:00 Noon. The funeral service will be held at 12:30 PM in the chapel of A.E. Carter Funeral Home. Interment will follow at West View Cemetery in Monticello, Georgia.
Rev. Elliott’s legacy of faith, love, and service will continue to live on in the hearts of his family, his congregation, and all who were blessed to know him.
