It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of James “Jim” H. Bassett of Madison, GA, who left us on May 19 at the age of 83. Jim passed peacefully with his devoted daughter, Stacey Bassett, by his side.
Jim was born on December 31, 1940 in Brookline, MA to Horace J. Bassett and Mary Margaret McPhee Bassett. Prior to moving to Madison, GA in 2006, Jim lived in Virginia Beach, VA, Norfolk, MA, and Larchmont, NY. He attended New Mamaroneck High School class of 1959 and graduated Cum Laude in 1963 from Boston College where he served in the ROTC Program, Honors Program, and played baseball.
He is survived by his daughters Stacey Bassett of Madison, GA, Dawn Lambe of Lodi, NJ, and Tammy (Seth) Ravine of Deephaven, MN and his son, Jim (Yenny) Bassett of Port Lucie, FL, as well as two grandchildren. Sister Linda Castagna of North Port, FL, brother Bobby Bassett of Naples, FL, sister-in-law Cynthia (Richard) Bassett of Panama City Beach, FL and his many nephews.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents and was welcomed in heaven by his brother, Colonel Richard Bassett and beloved pet, Sugar.
A special mention to his daughter Stacey Bassett for her unwavering devotion and love throughout his life and to his honorary daughter Melody Green for her support.
Rest in peace, Jim. You will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
