Irvin Thomas Lowe, 83, passed away on July 13, 2021.  He was born on December 2, 1937, in Bostwick, GA to Herschel & Rubye Knight Lowe. He loved Bostwick and all its people. He lived most of his life in Bostwick. He was preceded in death by his parents, by his brother, Jim Lowe, and by his sister, Jean Lowe Kirkland.

He was a born again Christian and longtime member of Gibbs Memorial Baptist Church, was an Army veteran and was also a Mason. He had a great respect for Our Lord and found comfort in knowing God was always caring for his family. Irvin retired from the Athens-Clarke County Government in 1993, where he was Director of Computer Services there for many years. He loved his family and always felt a great sense of duty to care for and protect them.

          Irvin loved his cars, trucks, tractors and bulldozers. Back when he was younger, he loved riding motorcycles and watching car races, especially the ones in Daytona and Darlington. He was an avid dog lover. He was quite handy around the house and could build and fix lots of things, including older cars. He was quite fond of the ocean and cruising. He believed in doing right by his fellow man-he went to countless weddings, funeral home visitations, and funerals and visited the sick. He would also help his fellow man out whenever he could. He tried his best to be generous with others.

 In addition to his wife of 54 years, Joyce, he is survived by his daughter, April Lowe Moseley and her husband, CDR Spencer Moseley, USN, Retired, of Apollo Beach, Florida, and by his son, Reverend Mark Lowe and his wife Amy Lowe, of Evansville, Indiana. Three precious grandchildren also survive-Molly, Peter, and Brady Lowe, also of Evansville, Indiana. He is further survived by a brother, Chief Master Sergeant William (Buddy) Lowe, USAF, Retired, of Sumter, South Carolina; brother-in-law, Eddie Kirkland, of Atlanta, Georgia, and sister-in-law, Barbara Lowe, of Forsyth, Georgia. Many nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be July 20, 2021, at 12:00 Noon at Gibbs Memorial Baptist Church, in Bostwick, Georgia, with the Reverend Mark Lowe officiating. The family will receive friends at 11:00AM prior to the service. Interment will be in the Bostwick Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Gibbs Memorial Baptist Church Building Fund, PO BOX 245, Bostwick, GA 30623. A.E. Carter Funeral Home, Madison, Georgia, is handling arrangements.
