In Loving Memory of Hoyt Lee Watts, Jr. "J.R. Watts"
Hoyt Lee Watts Jr. aged 39, passed away on January 28, 2026, in his home, located in Buckhead, Georgia.
Born on July 30, 1986 to Thelma Owensby Watts and Hoyt Watts, Sr, J.R. was a lifelong resident of Morgan County, Georgia. He graduated Morgan County High School and attended Georgia Military College in Madison, Georgia. Hoyt Lee Watts Jr, was known to all his close friends and family as J.R.
J.R. lived his life with a passion for the outdoors alongside his boys, Gannon and Gray-Gray. He loved Georgia College football, fishing, bon-fires with friends with good music playing. He spent every day almost throwing footballs with his boys, or standing beside them while they played. Whether he was spending time at the spillway fishing and swimming or cheering them on, on the football field, he was there.
He is survived by his two sons, Gannon Lee, age 10, and Grayson Lee, age 7; his stepdaughter Payton, age 14, and ex-wife, Jay. He is preceded in death by his mother, Thelma Watts, and his father, Hoyt Watts, Sr.
Services will be held in his honor. Visitation will be at A.E. Carter Funeral Home in Madison, Georgia on Thursday, February 12, 2026 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday at Sewell Church Cemetery, 1660 Sewell Church Road, Mansfield, Georgia 30055.
