Obituary
Glenda Gilbert Nelms, 76 of Social Circle, passed away on September 5, 2023. Glenda was born in Rutledge on June 6, 1947 to George Robert Gilbert and Lena Mae Adcock Gilbert. She was a dedicated nurse, having worked at Madison Health and Rehabilitation.. Glenda was a long-time member of Rutledge Baptist Church where she enjoyed singing in the choir as long as she was able. Glenda loved her cats and her flower gardens but most of all, her family.
Glenda Nelms is survived by her son, Dusty Adams and her sisters, Monaray Powers and Robin Benkoski (Peter). She also leaves grandchildren; Mitchell Mock, Chad Eaton, Kayla Young, Austin Adams and great grandchildren; Madyson Eaton, Trey, Hayden and Emma Young and Axl and Ava Adams. Glenda was preceded in death by a daughter, Callie Howell and siblings, Travis Gilbert, Sammy Gilbert and Patricia Smith.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, September 10 at Rutledge Baptist Church from 1-2 PM. The funeral service will be held at 2 PM. Interment will follow at the Rutledge City Cemetery.
