Elizabeth Diane Swafford-Franklin, 55, went home to be with Jesus on February 9, 2020 after five years of bravely battling cancer. Although born in Chicago, Illinois, Elizabeth was raised in middle Georgia where she attended Russell Highschool and, later, Dalton State College. She worked diligently, making the sacrifices a loving mother makes as necessary to raise her three sons. Knowing that God was top priority, she made sure to instill in her sons the importance of being in church as often as possible, in order to develop a relationship with the Lord. As her boys grew older, her work gave her the opportunity to travel all over the country with her best friend, Richard, whom she married and with whom she moved to Texas. She loved camping, hiking, fishing, swimming, boating, kayaking, and crafting, and could often be seen sewing blankets for each new grandchild born. Upon returning to Georgia to be closer to her children and grandchildren, she began attending Fusion Church of Madison, GA, where she developed deep connections with a loving church family who have helped tremendously throughout these last, difficult years. Although she was battling her own illness, she went out of her way to care for family members who were sick or disabled and was always willing to help those in need, careful to let God’s wonderful love shine through her. She had seen troubled times as well as magnificent ones, but no matter what, she was always there for her children and grandchildren. She will always be remembered as a dedicated wife, strong and stern, yet loving mother, and creative, energetic, and fun-loving Nana. Elizabeth will live on in the hearts of her devoted husband, her three strong sons with their beautiful wives, and her seven adoring grandchildren. She is survived by her husband, Richard Franklin, her three sons, Jacob (Allyson) Pittman, Jesse (Rachel) Pittman, and Adam (Christina) Pittman, and her seven grandchildren, Autumn Pittman, Landyn Pittman, Jocelyn Pittman, Connor Pittman, Lillian Pittman, Seth Pittman, and Cayson Pittman. There will be a memorial service for Elizabeth at Fusion Church of Madison, GA at 1:00 PM on Saturday, March 14. Please join us for this celebration of life.
