Dorothy Ann Laughlin Meagher
Born: January 19, 1930, Elwood, Indiana
Died: May 3, 2024, Farmington, Georgia
Dorothy passed away peacefully in her sleep at home at the age of 94.
Dorothy led a very full life; after graduating from Ladywood School in Indianapolis, Indiana, she started her career in women’s fashion. She worked at the Bonnie Jean shop in Winter Park, Florida and later opened her own business, The Quaint Shop on E. Welbourne Ave in Winter Park in the 1960’s.
Dorothy married Neil in 1963, raising 5 children in Altamonte Springs, Florida. In 1978 they moved to Farmington, Georgia to fulfill Neil’s dream of farming. He established The Briarpatch Farm and continued in the poultry production industry until Neil’s death in 2005.
Dorothy leaves five children: Stephen Joseph Meagher (Susan) of Covington, GA; Mary Meagher Corrigan (Matthew) of Jacksonville FL; Ann Meagher Mitchell (David) of Farmington, GA; David John Meagher (Wendy) of Farmington, GA; and Kevin Michael Meagher of Ogden, Utah. Twelve grandchildren; Frances Mitchell Cotton, Anna Meagher Tullis, David Paul Mitchell, Emily Claire Meagher, Timothy Corneilius Mitchell, Matthew Stephen Meagher, Patrick John Meagher, Michael Robert Meagher, Thomas James Meagher, John Francis Corrigan, Claire Dorothea Meagher, Jane Catherine Corrigan and four great grandchildren.
Dorothy and Neil were instrumental in the building of St James Catholic Church in Madison, Georgia.
