Donna Crook Obituary

Donna Stelzriede Crook, 82, of Madison, Georgia, passed away March 17, 2026. Born in Atlanta on November 10, 1943, she graduated from Murphy High School in 1961 and married her high school sweetheart, Weldon Reese Crook, on August 10, 1963.

After high school Donna worked for the Georgia Highway Department. Weldon and Donna lived in Snellville, Georgia for many years where they raised their family and were an integral part of the community. In 1988 she moved to Madison, where her love of reading led her to a long career at the Uncle Remus Morgan County Library. There she formed many community connections and friendships until her retirement. A devoted member of Madison Baptist Church, Donna was active in the Prayer Shawl Ministry. Her interest in history and genealogy helped lead to the founding of the Henry Walton DAR chapter in Madison.

Donna was a talented gardener, known for her beautiful rose gardens, and enjoyed sewing, crafting, knitting, and reading. Above all she cherished time with her children and grandchildren and was proud to be a great-grandmother.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Weldon Reese Crook; her father, Donald Charles Stelzriede; and her mother, Claudia Ayers Stelzriede.

Survivors include her son Joel Crook; daughter Sonya Meyer (Chip); grandchildren Olivia Cochran Gray (Will), Daniel Robert Cochran, Taylor Reese Crook, and Abigail Morgan Crook; great-grandson Sawyer Beckham Gray; Sister Janet Thomason and many, many nieces, nephews and family members that meant so much to her.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Friends of the Morgan County Library or The Caring Place.

Visitation will take place at A.E. Carter Funeral Home on Friday March 20, 2026 at 10:am with a service at 11:00am.
