Dell Hood Obituary

Ronald “Dell” Hood, 63, of Madison, Georgia, passed away peacefully on July 18, 2025.

Dell was born in Fort Belvoir, Virginia, to the late Ronald C. Hood and Betty Coalson Hood. He grew up in Berkeley County, South Carolina, where his dad nurtured his love for building and farming. A gifted builder and devoted family man, Dell spent his life creating spaces where love, laughter, and purpose could flourish. He was the founder of MasterSons Construction in Marietta, Georgia, where his passion for home renovations and craftsmanship came to life. Later, Dell and his beloved wife, the late DeLaine Steedly Hood, moved to Morgan County, where they embraced a quieter, farm-centered life that reflected Dell’s love for the land and all things that grow.

Dell’s world revolved around his children, Trent Hood and Shannon of Hoschton, Georgia, and Nicki Hood and her fiancé, Thomas McKenzie, of Atlanta, Georgia. He was endlessly proud of them, always quick to share their accomplishments and lend his support. Dell also cherished his role as a brother to Alvin Hood (Teri), Durwood Hood (Miriam), Jennifer Bellamine (Hicham), and Amy Hood. His deep love for family extended to his seven nieces and nephews and their children, whom he adored.

A man of strong faith, Dell was a devoted member of Fusion Church of Madison, where he found great joy in serving and worshiping with his church family. His relationship with God was evident in the way he lived—with humility, generosity, and an open heart.

He acknowledged that the blessings in his life came from God and shared them freely as a testament to God’s love for His children, living each day with gratitude and purpose. One of the most cherished parts of Dell’s testimony was the adoption of his children. This is a story he often shared to reflect God’s faithfulness and the goodness that comes from trusting in His plan.

Dell also delighted in his role as Santa Claus. Whether in living rooms, church events, or community gatherings, Dell brought joy and the light of his faith into every Santa visit.

Dell will be remembered for his tireless work ethic, his warm and inviting hugs, his love of gardening and country living, and the way he brought strength and steadiness to everyone around him. His unwavering faith in God was the foundation of his life, and he shared that faith generously with others.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, July 26, 2025, from 1–2 PM at Fusion Church of Madison, with a funeral service to follow at 2 PM. Interment will be at Westbrook Cemetery.
