DeLaine Hood Obituary

An Enduring Legacy of Love

It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of the passing of Delaine Steedly Hood, affectionately known as Laine, of Madison, GA. Laine peacefully departed this world surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, April 20, 2024. She was born on November 10, 1948, in Charleston, SC, and was the beloved wife of Dell Hood. Laine was the cherished daughter of the late Broadus and Ida Steedly.

Laine and her devoted husband, Dell, were blessed with two wonderful children, Trent and Nicki. Her devotion to Dell and her children was evident, and together they created memories that they will all treasure. She was proud of their endeavors, and she delighted in being their mother.

She found joy in serving her church family, often lending a helping hand wherever needed, whether it was organizing meals for the community or sharing the message of God's love. Laine's warmth and kindness knew no bounds; she had a gift for connecting with others and offering words of encouragement and inspiration, especially through her daily Facebook posts "Good morning from Beaver Dam." The impact she made on countless lives through her ministry will be deeply missed.

While Laine nurtured a loving and fulfilled family and spiritual life, she was an accomplished professional. She graduated from Lander University with a degree in accounting, which led to a long and successful career. After dedicating many years to her work, Laine retired from the North American Mission Board, where she served as Director of Accounting.

In her retirement, Laine found immense joy in a special role: being Mrs. Santa Claus to countless children. It was a role she embraced wholeheartedly, spreading cheer and warmth wherever she went. Laine embodied the spirit of giving and kindness, bringing smiles to the faces of children and adults alike.

Laine is survived by her husband Dell, daughter Nicki Hood, son Trent Hood and wife Shannon. She will also be missed by her extended family and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Hampton Steedly.

Let us carry forward her spirit of kindness and service, honoring her memory by emulating the profound impact she made on countless lives. Though she may be physically gone, her light will continue to shine brightly in the lives she touched, guiding us with her enduring legacy of love.
