David K McLendon

David McLendon, 91 of Buckhead passed away on September 30, 2023.  He was born September 9, 1932 in Hopewell, AL to Isaac and Cora McLendon.  David served in the U.S. Army for three years, during the Korean War.  He was married to Sara Bell.  Following his military service, Mr. McLendon spent 30 years working in the U.S. Postal Service.  While in the Army, he was trained as a radio operator and earned his ham radio license.  Through ham radio, he developed friendships across the globe.  Mr. McLendon was a quiet man, he loved his family and his birds and spending time travelling. 

David McLendon is survived by his wife, Sara Bell McLendon and children, Sara Ann McLendon, Jan M. Heflin (Steve), Timothy D. McLendon (Teresa) and James Isaac McLendon (Selena).  Grandchildren are Audrey H. Miranda (Josh), Anthony Heflin (Tori), Justin Davas McLendon, Natalie Rose McLendon, Matthew Ian McLendon, Andrew Elias McLendon, Marinell Grace McLendon, Mandy Marie McLendon, Sara Kaye McLendon, Kayla Rennee McLendon and two great grandchildren, Evelyn and Lucas Miranda.  He was preceded in death by a daughter, Mandy McLendon.

A graveside service will be held at the Buckhead City Cemetery on Tuesday, October 3 at 11:00 AM.
