David Dantice Obituary

Lt. Col. David Allen Dantice of Bostwick, GA died Friday, July 16, 2021, at 5:52 a.m.. David was born on March 9, 1947, in St. Louis, MO. to Claude and Marie Dantice and was soon followed by his sister, Darlene. He went to Southwest Missouri State where he met and married the love of his life, Jeanette Briscoe. From college, he went to Officer Candidate School and then went straight to Vietnam where he fought bravely for his country, earning a bronze star. Ever the patriot, David made the army his career. He ended his distinguished career as the facility commander at the Georgia Army National Guard facility in Winder, GA where he achieved the rank of Lt. Colonel.  After retiring from the service and having raised 3 precious children, David and Jeanette moved to Bostwick, GA. David earned the title of “Bubba” with the arrival of the first of his 17 grandchildren. Despite all his achievements, his greatest was as the role of Bubba. Bubba has had such an enduring impact on each and every one of his grands, from 25 to 6, each one has had an incredibly close relationship with him. Ever the encourager, teacher, and disciplinarian, Bubba has made it his mission to let each child know how important and precious they are to him and especially to the Lord. There are not enough words to describe such a man of faithfulness, duty, passion, loyalty, and generosity! Bubba was larger than life, loud, and had a great zeal for God, family, and country. Bubba’s passion for the Lord is legendary. Anyone who has ever had a conversation with him knows how deep his faith was and how confidant he was in Christ Jesus as his personal Lord and Savior. He truly felt a deep, driving desire that all around him should know Christ too! He was an amazing man, full of wisdom, advice, and encouragement; “Just breathe! You can do this!”, You’ve got this, little girl! ”, “Hey Bud, let me show you how it’s done.” But mostly, Lt. Col. David “Bubba” Dantice loves Christ and is in the midst of earning his reward as a good and faithful servant! He will be tremendously missed by his loving wife of 53 years, Jeanette, his daughter Peggy and her three sons and daughter-in-law; Emory and Bri Ricketts, Harrison and Earl; his son and daughter-in-law Jess and Heather Dantice and their children, Auburn, Georgia, Knox, and Nash; and daughter and son-in-law Carrie and Jeff VanDeMark and their children, Massey, Kenyon, Esther, Thompson, Rett, Clara, Jax, Ki, Ronin, and Evie. He also leaves behind his much-loved sister Darlene Graham and numerous nephews, nieces, cousins, brothers and sisters-in-law and a multitude of friends! His was a life well lived and great is his reward!

The funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Monday, July 19 at Sandy Creek Baptist Church.  The body will lie in state from 10-11 AM.  Interment will follow at the Sandy Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
