In Loving Memory
Remembering the Life of David Allen Burris, Jr.
It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Allen Burris as he went home to be with His Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on June 12, at the age of 49. Allen was a cherished husband, son and brother. He was also the father of 5 children and stepfather of 2 stepdaughters. Allen was involved in the recovery community while being recognized by the Georgia Addiction Counselors Association as the New Counselor of the Year in 2010. Allen also was involved in Celebrate Recovery for many years and helped establish new Celebrate Recovery Groups in 2 different locations. In these capacities Allen touched many lives with compassion and understanding.
David Allen Burris, Jr. was born on February 27, 1976, in East Ridge, Tennessee to David and Glenda Burris. From a young age, Allen demonstrated a loving and caring personality. Allen attended Carson-Newman College in Jefferson City, Tennessee and the Morning Star School of Ministry in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Allen enjoyed camping, hiking and backpacking in the Smoky Mountains. Life was good for Allen when he was sitting around a campfire with family and friends. But more than the outdoors, Allen loved to worship the Lord, study the Bible and teach others the truths that he had discovered in the Word.
Allen is survived by his wife, Hollie Burris, three daughters, Azusa, Tirsa and Giliah Burris, two sons, Asher and Caleb Burris, his parents, David and Glenda Burris, two sisters, Katie Burris and Bonnie Pickard with her husband, Jared Pickard, one niece, Justice Pickard and two stepdaughters, Alli Bellew and Aislinn Bellew. Allen is also survived by three uncles and one aunt as well as several cousins.
A memorial service will be held on July 12 at 10:00 am at Honey Creek Woodlands of the Monastery of the Holy Spirit in Conyers Georgia, where friends and family will gather to worship the Lord and celebrate the life of Allen Burris in the Outdoor Chapel. For those who wish to send flowers, selections may be delivered to Honey Creek Woodlands for the service on July 12th.
