Bobbie Oxford Obituary

Bobbie R. Oxford, affectionately known as “Bunny”, passed away on Saturday, November 19, 2022, after her long battle with dementia.  Bunny, 90, was born on April 3, 1932, to Henderson and Beulah Rucker.  She was a native of Lula, Ga and was a graduate of North Georgia College.  This Battalion Sweetheart married her Company “C” Captain, Lamar T. Oxford, Jr. from Rutledge, Ga in 1953.  For the next 62 years, she perfected her homemaker skills and cultivated a nurturing and loving home each time their family relocated to a new town.

Bunny and Lamar loved to travel with friends and family (Jack and Carol Oxford).  Vacationing in Sky Valley, NC during the hot summer months was a special treat for them after retirement.  Bunny’s passion was taking care of her family and home.  She enjoyed cooking, walking, and playing golf with friends but especially with her husband.  Her most special gift was caring for others.

Bunny is preceded in death by her husband, parents and sister, Mary Elizabeth Chapman.  Left to cherish her memory are her two children Sandy Cooke (Eddie), Smithfield, NC and John Oxford (Marty), Ellijay, GA.  Other survivors include grandsons Taylor Oxford (Toni) and his children Tristan, Ayrabella, Ensley, Zelie, Ezra; Nicholas Cooke (Beth Anne) and his children, Kennedy and Landon; Allen Oxford (Molly) and his daughter, Raegan; Cameron Cooke and his son, Carter.

We rejoice in the fact she is with our Lord and loved ones we have lost before.  We were blessed with a Godly, loving, and compassionate wife, mother, Nana, and friend.  Her faithfulness was unwavering and she loved without restraint.  We will cherish our memories of Bunny, while knowing we will meet again someday.

A private graveside family service will be held at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Willowbrook Hospice of Ellijay, GA.
