Berry (William Asbury) Whisnant, Jr, 81, arrived in glory on December 24, 2024, at home with loved ones by his side. He was born on August 15, 1943, in Madison, Georgia, to the late Asbury and Ernestine (Cannon) Whisnant. Although he lived in both Georgia and South Carolina, he chose to retire to his home state after many decades in the dairy distribution industry. He was reunited in heaven with his sons, William Ray and Mark Allen, his brothers, Cecil and Billy, and a sister, Inez Campbell. He shared 64 years of marriage and five children with his beautiful bride, Joyce Linda (Chadwick) Whisnant.
Their surviving daughters are Faye Rife (Rich), FL, Elaine Pulliam, GA, and Laura McNutt (Matt), TN. His legacy continues through 10 grandchildren, and 18 great grandchildren.
Grandchildren: Faye’s children: Legend Hurst (Chris), Melissa Howard (Davie), Deanna Upchurch (Seth). Elaine’s children: Amber Matthews (Johnny), Ashley Oldham (Chris), Dylan Pulliam (Eva). Mark’s children: Cheyenne Whisnant, Kaylee Chapman (AJ). Laura’s children: Caden McNutt, Brady McNutt. Berry loved and treasured his family and was passionate about his Georgia Bulldogs, NASCAR, and fishing. He also loved woodworking in his shop and then gifting his creations to those he loved. His kind blue eyes and gentle soul, along with his jokes and laughter, were loved by those who knew him. He was loved and respected by many. He will truly be missed but through God’s grace one day we know we will be together again for eternity.
For anyone wishing to do so, flowers are appreciated or donations can be sent to the COPD Foundation @copdfoundation.org
