Obituary

 

Ben Roy Kirby Jr., age 83, died at his home in Buckhead, Georgia with family at his side on October 22, 2021. Ben was born and raised in Money, Mississippi and attended Mississippi State University. He taught himself to water ski at an early age and went on to perform and teach at Cypress Gardens and other ski schools. He began a career in sales with American Home Products, one of the nation’s largest health care and pharmaceutical concerns, with moves to various cities including Birmingham, Louisville and Memphis. He settled in Atlanta and worked in corporate travel with his wife of 49 years, Sandra Kirby, before they retired to Morgan County, Georgia. 
Mr. Kirby was an avid outdoorsman and fan of college football. He is survived by his son David Kirby and wife Tina of Canton, Georgia, and his son Daryl Kirby and wife Stacey of Buckhead, Georgia. He is also survived by his four beloved grandchildren Nicole, Avery, Brooke and Jackson, and his special friend and caregiver Gail Howald. 
A memorial service will be held Saturday, October 30, 2021 at 11 a.m. at the Madison First United Methodist Church.
