Barbara Reilly Cumming

Barbara Reilly Cumming of Madison, Georgia passed away on February 22, 2022.  She was 72.  Barbara was born March 7, 1949 in Melrose Park, Illinois to Joseph Richard Reilly and Gertrude Blickhahn Reilly.  She is survived by her husband of 52 years, James (Jim) Neil Cumming; two children, Lori and Jack Frost and Eric Cumming; four grandsons, Carson Frost, Austin Cumming, Reilly Frost, and Caleb Cumming.  She was one of eight siblings and was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Dick Reilly and one sister, Pat Armour.  She is survived by her other five siblings, Kathy Smith, Steve Reilly, Mike Reilly, Becky Mathis, and Diane Smith.

Barbara was an avid horse lover and traveler.  She rode horses as soon as she could walk.  She rode countless miles on her horse trail riding and was a member of the Kelmac Saddle Club.  She and Jim traveled to 47 of the 50 United States as well as Ireland and Canada.  When asked, “how can you afford to take these trips”, her response was, “ we can’t afford not to and that way we will have longer to remember the trips!”  

“Ms. Barbara”, as she was known to her day care children and families, ran a home daycare for over 40 years before she retired.  She kept two generations of children who loved her also.

Barbara lived life simply yet fully, she went out with her boots on.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, February 26, 2022 at A.E. Carter Funeral Home from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM.  The memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM in the chapel.
