Mrs. Betty Nesbitt, 91 of Madison, died October 26, 2018.  Mrs. Nesbitt was at home surrounded by her family.  She was the daughter of the late J.J. and Maddie Blackman Parrish.  She was born in Baltimore, MD on May 23, 1927.  She was married to Bob Nesbitt on May 9, 1959.  They lived in Smithfield, NC for several years before moving to Stockbridge, GA and then to Madison in 1964.  Mrs. Nesbitt was retired from the Morgan County Board of Education.  She loved children and encouraging them to read.  She founded the church library at Madison Baptist Church where she was a long-time member.  She was a co-founder of the Morgan County Clothes Closet and volunteered at The Caring Place.  She spent countless hours volunteering at these organizations, quietly helping this community.  She was also a talented seamstress and enjoyed sewing for many throughout the community.  She enjoyed travelling with family and friends to mountains in their camper.

Betty Nesbitt is survived by her husband of 59 1/2  years, Bob and four children: Nelson Parker & Patricia, Charles Parker & Tricia, Frank Nesbitt & Pat and Esther Peters & Gene.  She also leaves ten grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren and eight great-great grandchildren.  Also surviving is a sister-in-law, Daisy Lee Parrish as well as nephews, Jessie Parrish, Jr., Bill Parrish and a niece, Tricia Holloman.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, October 28 from 6-8PM at A.E. Carter Funeral Home.  The funeral service will be held at 11AM on Monday, October 29 at Madison Baptist Church.  The committal service will follow at the Madison City Cemetery.  Her eight grandsons will be pallbearers.
