Dan Adair Pentecost, 81 of Colbert, died April 20, 2018.  He was the son of the late Theo and Frances Adair Pentecost. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, April 25 at 2PM in the chapel of A.E. Carter Funeral Home.

Mr. Pentecost was born on June 24, 1936 in Bishop, Georgia.  He faithfully served his country with over 20 years of service in the United States Air Force, including two tours in Vietnam.  After his military service was complete, he came back home and served his community with over 20 years of combined service with the City of Madison Police Department and the City of Watkinsville Police Department.  He worked with the City of Watkinsville until his retirement.  In retirement, he was an active member of several VFW Posts.  He loved spending time with his family and reading, especially books about military history.  He was a big man with an even bigger personality.  He never met a stranger and to spend time with him was an occasion of frequent laughter.

Mr. Pentecost is survived by his four children and their mother; Dana Knight and Aubie of Madison; Kevin Pentecost and Brandie of Watkinsville; Marc Pentecost and Jeanne of Louisville, Kentucky; James Pentecost and Mandi of Athens and Thelma Pentecost of Madison.  He is also survived by thirteen grandchildren; Britt, Max, Kailey, Jessie, Alaina, Abbie, Taylor, Awstin, Hailee, Rylee, Cole, Emerson and Nolan and two great grandchildren; Lucas and Logan.

Memorials may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.

I am so sorry to hear of Dan's passing. I have always been crazy about him and we had a wonderful relationship. I truly think he felt the same about me. RIP father-in-law. You will be missed.

Sorry for the loss to this family. Dan and I had exchanged some Pentecost family data years ago when I learned that he attended Georgia Military College. I have been researching this family for over 20 years. Sorry that we never met. May God give you peace.

Sorry to hear about Dan's passing. When I went to work at the Oconee County Sheriff's Dept. Dan was one of the first deputies that came up and introduced himself to me. I am very glad to have had the chance to meet him and work with him. I will be keeping the family in my prayers.
