Jake William Rogers, Jr. died April 16, 2019. Junior was 79 years old. He was born February 2, 1940 in Buckhead to Jake and Annie Lee Moon Rogers. Junior grew up in Morgan County. After high school, he joined the U.S. Army. After his service, Junior came back to Buckhead. He was a true civil servant, volunteering for the chamber of commerce. He was an avid UGA Bulldog fan and missed very few football games. He enjoyed line dancing and spent many evenings at Cowboys. He enjoyed trips to Six Flags, loved Halloween and Coca Cola. He was a fan of Wendy’s hamburgers and even leaves a namesake, the “Junior burger”.
The family of Junior Rogers received friends on Saturday, April 20 from 10-11 am at A.E. Carter Funeral Home. The funeral service was held at 11 am in the chapel. Interment followed at the Buckhead City Cemetery.
Military honors were rendered by the United States Army honor guard.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Homestead Hospice or to the American Cancer Society.
