Hunter Crawford Foy, 91, died December 2, 2018 at Abbey Hospice in Social Circle. He was born in Eufaula, Alabama, November 5, 1927. He attended Eufaula public schools and graduated from Auburn University. Immediately upon graduation, he was commissioned into the army and deployed to Korea.
He married the former Sue Rast in 1952 in Dillion, South Carolina. They moved to Madison in 1963 when he was employed by the Federal Land Bank, and afterwards by the Georgia Department of Revenue as a chief property appraiser.
Hunter was a loyal Auburn supporter and enjoyed watching the Auburn Tigers through lean and good times. He was also an avid golfer and sportsman. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, American Legion, VFW, and various other community organizations.
Survivors, in addition to his wife of 66 years are: sons John Hunter Foy and wife Shelly; David Sidney Foy and wife Becky; grandchildren Hunter Foy, Elizabeth Foy Coughlin, Thomas Foy, Christopher Foy, Rachel Foy, and a God-daughter, Sydney Griffith. He also is survived by three great granddaughters.
The family will receive visitors from 9 – 11 a.m. on Saturday, December 8 at A. E. Carter Funeral Home. The memorial service will follow at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church of Madison.
